I'm Back

For some reason - for the last 2 months I haven't been able to get into this web site and see all the great photos everyone has been posting - I get the entry's in my email but have been unable to get into the web site ---so thanks for Wilson at frontiernet I am fixed and able to join the chat. The dog disc photos are fantastic - might have to college a few! I didn't get over to the pork in the park but made the art festival. Michael Monroe is from Grand Marais where I am from - so it was great to see people I know from somewhere else - I got some photos of him. I talked to Adianne the young lady who performed a couple of times as I had met her out at the orchard when we are doing the concert series.... she is amazing- didn't get her photos but did get a CD! well look for some new posts by me Hey some chat material here - isn't it funny that all of the photographers in the art festival were from someplace else and no images of this area were for sale??

It's interesting that you mention there were no local photography. I've tossed around the idea of having a booth of my own with local images/prints, etc but then get nervous about copyright laws and would anyone really buy my stuff...
I've only lived in Jordan two years, so I don't know if there are ever events like this, but wouldn't it be nice if there was a place where various local artists could hang their work on a rotating schedule or to have a local art show, even if it was in conjunction with a local fundraiser? I would love to be involved with something like that, there are so many possibilites, but don't really know anyone locally to start a project like this.

Back to page topI did the Jordan Art Festival the first year they had it - had a nice story about my art in the JI too. I had mostly my drawings as I was preparing for a show at the time. Didn't sell but a couple of note cards - so it was expensive.
Since then I have done a lot of local photograpy and did consider it this year - but wasn't able to.
As an artist and a photographer it would be nice to have a local space to show, I even considered renting one of the buildings downtown for a studio/gallery. but I need to sleep sometime!
Maybe we should create a co-op and do just that, this group seems to be the most active creatives in Jordan.
Thoughts anyone?
