We now have a officer who drives around and looks for weeds growing in peoples yards or if they have something out of place. The officer than sends a letter telling these people to clean up the yard or else. This officer may want to open her eyes as she pulls out of the parking lot of city hall, the streets (1st and water) have weeds growing along the curb and gutter and the middle of the street. What an eyesore, but if you can't write some one a ticket then you don't see it.

We were told a while back...
Back to page topWe were told a while back here that eyesore citations were not a priority to the city. In stead of writing weed tickets, maybe the police should concentrate on slowing down the traffic roarring thru downtown.
I spoke to Police Chief Bob...
Back to page topI spoke to Police Chief Bob Malz and City Administrator Ed Shukle yesterday. They said that code enforcement is a high priority of the city council. Since it has a full-time community service officer, the police department recently upped the amount of time it spends on enforcement of ordinances. But your elected officials also gave the police direction to do so.
