The Star Tribune reported this morning that Wal-Mart backed out of its plans to open a location in New Prague.
Jordan mayor-elect Pete Ewals said, "It's a long drive from here to the closest Wal-Mart, unless you're going to work anyway and stop in Shakopee or Savage."
The story went on, commentating and again quoting Ewals, "So a New Prague Wal-Mart would have meant something: 'Not as close as the OK Corral, but an easier drive than Savage.'"
What do you think? Would you have supported the proposal to build in New Prague?

Back to page topIt would have been half the distance to the proposed New Prague Wal Mart from downtown Jordan than it is to the Shakopee Walmart.
I would have visited Walmart in New Prague about as much as I visit the one in Shakopee. Not very often.

Back to page topI'm with Ray. I get to Wal-Mart about 1/3 as often as I get to Target or Cub.
But the loss of this project is a loss for the area. It's a sign that things are slowing down.
I don't know if it is good or bad news for Jordan.
