What do you see as the best way to encourage business growth in downtown Jordan?

Collaborate, inspire,...

Collaborate, inspire, support.
Maintain and enhance our historic buildings. Work with the existing businesses to help them be successful. Success draws growth, new businesses will be inspired to open new doors.
Recognize what Jordan has to offer. And support it. If we've been here for a long time, look at Jordan with fresh, new eyes. If we're new, share what we see with others already in town.
People from across the metro area, across the state, across the country, and even across the pond have chosen to come to my downtown business in Jordan for what my business and our town has to offer. They are excited with what they see when they get here - I have volumes of accolades in my guest journals, and guests that come back year after year (some more often than that). And when they are here, they patronize the other downtown businesses, follow the walking tour, sit by the waterfall, visit our orchards and winery, hike in our state park, eat in our restaurants.
Believe in the treasure we already have.
We will all share in that success - your success is my success!

Downtown needs to be more pedestrian-friendly. It's very difficult to get across Broadway, so businesses on the east side of the street must rely on people driving to them. I think a four-way stop sign at Broadway and Water Streets would make crossing easier and safer.

Each intersection on Broadway should have a sign standard with arrows indicating where visitors can find various businesses. (This idea is not mine, but I'm not sure if the person who suggested it wants me to say where it came from.)

Ms. Knox is spot-on suggesting that collaboration and inspiration is the key to growth. I think a Thanksgiving or Christmas tractor parade would be a nice drawing card. Not just antique or classic tractors, but whatever our neighbors would like to bring. Other people surely have other ideas.

Finally, I think downtown businesses should form a downtown council to promote themselves to both the public and city government. While the city should take an active role in revitalizing Downtown Jordan, there's a limit to what government can do. But for concerned and cooperating business people, the sky's the limit.

In one word, parking. Every time I get an inclination to shop or browse downtown, I am quickly discouraged because I can never find a place to park, get out strollers, etc. Crossing 21 on foot is an absolute nightmare.
It may be obvious to people who have been living in Jordan for awhile that there is some parking available on the side streets and perhaps the post office lot if it isn't during regular business hours. This isn't obvious to people driving through.
It is a matter of convenience too. Anyone can say what they want about Americans being too lazy, etc. but the fact remains that if you want to attract people to spend money, you have to give them what they want. People want close, convenient, safe parking. People do not want to walk 3, 4, or 5 blocks to visit one store!
