Cruise around the Hawaiian...
Back to page topCruise around the Hawaiian Islands! My husband and I flew to Oahu and cruised around four of the islands (Maui, Oahu, Kauai and Hawaii-the big island). The cruise ship sailed at night and we explored the islands during the day. We were in port overnight on Maui and Kauai during the seven-day cruise, and we rented cars on those days. The sightseeing was amazing, the weather wonderful, and we enjoyed the luxuries of our floating hotel. We went on a whale-watching trip off the coast of Maui and saw many humpback mother/calf pairs breeching and playing in the tropical blue water. February's a great time for whale watching. We ate delicious Hawaiian cuisine and enjoyed the wonderful, relaxed pace of the islands. Nothing like it. Some day we'll go back to explore and snorkel some more. Best of all, we did it, airfare and all, for right around $3,000 (yes, that's for both of us!). Look for those "fire sale" opportunties by booking your trip through a travel agent close to the sailing date.

Back to page topThat sounds pretty great. The more I hear about people’s visits to the Aloha State, the more I want to visit it myself.
I had a good experience,...
Back to page topI had a good experience, too. The weather was horrible, though, in March. Our rainy, week-long trip back in 1989 was sandwiched between two weeks of perfect 80- to 90-degree, blue-sky, cloudless weather.
We stayed in Honolulu, but we saw the whole big island. Surfers, snorkeling, the jungle, downtown, we even toured a nut factory.
And I brought home a neon green baseball hat with "Hawaii" written on it. I took it to school and someone stole it. (I sure you're thinking, Who would steal anything that's neon green? Keep in mind that this was in 1989, when I was in fifth grade.)
