How can it possibly be a good thing for Major League Baseball to give amnesty to the ballplayers who in the Mitchell Report were tagged as steroid users?
The home-run era ruined baseball as it should be played. I would be happier than anyone if we could go back to 1980s-style play, but the game has changed. And even the Minnesota Twins think their best bet is to swing for the fences.

Well, baseball has only itself to blame if you feel that way.
For me, the game has never been ruined, well, except for watching a Craig Monroe at bat.
MLB knew what was going on in the 1990s and turned a blind eye. So did the mainsteam media. Instead, MLB and the ESPNs of the world tried to kiss the rumps of Cal Ripken, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa for "saving" the game. It was so caught up in baseball coming back after the 1994 strike both forget to do their jobs.
For being bored with steroids, you have a lot to say, Tom. I disagree that those in charge of Major League Baseball forgot to do their jobs. They decided not to. I agree that the league ruined itself. It is just now starting to right itself. Fewer home runs and more praise for solid, all-around play is better for the game.
Baseball doesn't belong to the owners of teams. They will pass away and turn to dust someday. Baseball belongs to America -- to all of us, it's our game -- and should be honored as such.

Back to page topOK ... you guys are right. Rich people shouldn't pay penalties for the bad things they do. Poor logic. Sadly, that's how the world works.

I'm just bored with it all. I just want to enjoy the game again without having to listen to all the non-stop juice-talk.

Back to page topBaseball may be America's pasttime, but it's also a business. And it's always business before pleasure.
Baseball is going to do what's best for its pocket book. Owners too.
I'm a big fan of the game. I'm not going to let all the steroid talk ruin it for me.
I'll let Jose talk about roids.
