Many are concerned why the best trained, best equipped, best funded and, above all, most motivated Army in the world is bogged down in Iraq. They lack not our confidence or support.
But, think about it. Can we, should we, will we send any of our great, 90,000 ton aircraft carriers, any of our battleships, or any of the stealth bombers capable of carrying 20 tons of cluster bombs into this struggle. Will we dispatch any of the missiles capable of 5000 mile range and capable of carrying a nuclear warheads to ‘insurgent’ strongholds.
I think not, and therein lies that enormity of the task in Iraq. We look to the military for a solution and they find none. There is no military solution.
The solution lies in the political arena. In that department we are proven to be under trained, under qualified, and unable to cope with the demands of international survival. We have been misled and misinformed. Stay the course has been a disaster.
We acted in haste concerning Iraq. Now, we have the luxury of repenting at our leisure. It is time to bring our military home.
