Who else can't wait for the Jordan Jaguars basketball season to start? Talk about the roster, new players, returning stars, and more in this forum.

The first game is Nov. 28 at home against New Prague.

Jags sophomore post Leah Dietel is averaging 24.3 points per game, and sophomore guard Brittany Chambers is right behind with a 23.8 average. Both Dietel and Chambers are on pace to go over the coveted 1,000-point mark for their careers in the next two weeks.

No Jordan High School boy or girl has ever reached 1,000 career points in his or her sophomore year, columnist Gregg Busch says.

Where's all the talk and excitement for the Jaguars this season???

We got the two of the top scorers in the state.

Sure it isn't new with them winning the conference gain.

But with the success of volleyball, I can see the girls doing the same in basketball.

Congrats Jags on making it to the State Tournament. It has been a fun year watching you play. Keep up the hard work this weekend and bring home another State Championship.

We are in an era of girls sports in Jordan that we have never seen and, in my opinion, will probably never see again. It may very well be possible that these girls will win a total of 3 state championships in volleyball and 3 state championships in basketball. 6 championships in 3 years. How many schools have done that?!

I watch a lot of basketball, and I have to say that I'm entirely impressed with the Jaguars. Last Friday, when one of the usual high scorers was double teamed, the rest of the team stepped up with a great breakaway or a shot from downtown.

This team does everything a basketball team should do. Did anyone else hear Channel 5 pick Jordan to win it all?

I am disappointed in the Star Trib All-metro team selections.

At least one of the Jaguars should have been selected, but they all were ignored. That's the respect we get for being a 2A team.

Andrew.... Yes it was disappointing to see the Trib and there picks....however there was only 1 sophmore on that list. They seldom pick "young" players for those teams. I do believe that Chambers and Dietel should be on there, but they will get there turn.

I was able to watch the Jags play last week and, after covering the Winona State women's basketball team this year, I believe that Chambers could get a few minutes for the Warriors (T-4th in the conference) right now. (Mostly because Winona State only has one true point guard.) But even as a sophomore in high school, she'd be the second-fastest player on Winona State's team, and the way she can use both hands to drive and finish at the basket is nearly up to par with other guards on the Division II level. I didn't really get to gauge her shooting ability from outside, but her quick release will have coaches drooling. Good luck to the Jags at state!

When's the student bus leave? Does it leave from the high school? How much does it cost?

I could feel the excitement in the air today as I delivered papers! Even the gas stations seemed busier today, as students were in buying treats and drinks to bring with them on the fan bus. Make sure to check back on this site later today for updates on the game.

What a great game today! Barnesville really had me worried in the first half. Plenty of lead changes, Jordan's biggest lead was 9 points in the 2nd half.
