The Jordan Independent from two weeks ago had 8 pages out of 24 pages with public notices. The most recent edition this past week had 9 pages out of 28 pages. Why?
I would prefer to see more coverage of our local communities and schools.

Back to page topWhen property is going through foreclosure and is about to be sold via sheriff sale, it is required by law that a public notice be issued. The increased number of pages in the paper is a sign of how many foreclosures are happening right now. It is sad. I am praying that the situation will turnaround soon.
All legal newspapers are...
Back to page topAll legal newspapers are required to publish public notices that are ordered by a governmental body or law office. The week in which they appear, or the body copy, is mandated by the party that sends it to your local newspaper. We print what is ordered, per our requirement as a legal newspaper.
A certain number of news inches are reserved for each issue of the newspaper. It may seem disproportionate when we receive many orders for legal notice publishing, but those notices do not take the place of local news.
