I am one of the members of the Jordan Community Coalition. Some of you may remember this group as the Ministerium. The JCC is comprised of school administrators, social workers, leaders of our local clergy, representatives from Community Ed., the city council, police department and our local food shelf.
We meet monthly to coordinate calendars and discuss events/items that affect/enrich the lives of our youth and also families in need. By keeping abreast of the events on each other's calendars, it is our hope to reach each member's core group more effectively. Better communication among this wide cross section of officials leads to better participation and more results.
At our most recent meeting we discussed the success of our food shelf as well as possible enhancements both now and in the future.
We also discussed the upcoming referendum, which is a hot topic for everyone in the community. The Jordan Community Coalition is firm on the belief that our schools are vital to the health and quality of life of our youth, their families, of our community as a whole. Along with the support of staff, volunteers, parents and the students themselves, a necessary component is the dollars to operate the District effectively.
For the members present at our October 14th meeting, it was unanimously agreed that a successful referendum is necessary.
I apologize to my fellow group members for posting this letter of support so late.
I encourage everyone to get out and vote tomorrow, show your support for our schools. The vote is about more than just dollars, it affects everyone in Jordan in some way.
