I watch a lot of TV – that’s no secret. But what some people don’t know is that I inherited an amazing TV-watching ability from my dad.

My dad doesn’t watch much TV. The only programming he makes a conscious effort to see each week is the "This Old House" hour (including both "This Old House" and "Ask This Old House") on public television. But when my dad starts to watch a new show, he can get pretty excited, but that’s never a good sign. Once he likes a show, it is almost a given that the show will be cancelled. And I’m the same way. If I really like a new show, chances are good that the show won’t be on for more than a season or two.

I like a lot of cancelled TV shows. I just bought season one of "Dead Like Me" the other day, while my second purchasing choice that day was "Freaks and Geeks" – a cancelled show created by the director of "The 40 Year Old Virgin." Other great cancelled TV show DVDs in my collection include "Arrested Development" and "Quantum Leap."
