Now that I’m getting married to a wonderful woman, I don’t really have to worry about it, but when a recent newspaper article mentioned a Web site that can help people pick a neighborhood in which to live based on the number of single people there (along with several other factors), I was intrigued.

So I took a quick trip over to www.cyberhomes.com to check it out. And the Web site confirmed what I had known all along – there really aren’t that many single people in my age group in Jordan. According to the site, there are only about 1,300 single folks who call Jordan home, a number that seems unusually high to me. Of course, that’s compared to the almost 3,000 residents listed as married on the site.

But the single-married situation wasn’t all that I found interesting about Jordan. Here are some other fun facts according to the site:

• People ages 30-39 represent the largest portion of Jordan’s population, with folks ages coming in a close second.
• The most popular job among Jordan residents is sales – 551 residents listed that as their career with the next highest career choice being office or administrative work with 528.
• The most common household income range is between $60,000 and $70,000.
• Jordan’s employment rate has gone steadily up over the last five years while the number of building permits issued has gone steadily down in that same time frame.
• Jordan recorded 196 sunny days last year, well over the Minnesota average of 189.
• Only three people listed that they biked to work, while a whopping 2,939 drive to work alone. The majority of drivers commute more than one hour to work each day.
