What’s the deal with Highway 169? It’s such an unpredictable road. I’ve tried over the past several days to navigate it from the same starting point to the same destination at the same time of day, and each day the drive takes me a different length of time – sometimes shorter, sometimes longer.

I would think that a road like that would be predictable!

Which roads can you set your watch by the travel time and which roads change travel times with the wind?

My fiancée will be heading back to good old Minnesota today after five days spent in Jamaica. I’m excited for a bunch of obvious reasons, but I’m also excited for a reason that may not be quite so obvious – this gives me a chance to really see what Google Earth has to offer.

Well, it’s that time of year again – the time where everyone looks back on the year that was and decides they need to lose weight.

Sure, I probably could stand to drop a few pounds. But that’s just one of the reasons that I don’t like New Year’s resolutions – if I really needed to lose weight, why wait until Jan. 1 to make a change in my lifestyle? But even a New Year Scrooge like myself can’t escape the allure of listing off a few of the things I’ve resolved myself to do sometime within the next few months.

The weekend of Christmas, I went to my parents’ house to see family and friends in Platteville before I drove to my grandparents’ house in Sheboygan (about a three hour drive away). My family left Platteville the night of Dec. 23. I spent that night with friends and left the morning of Dec. 24. I wanted to get to my grandparents early enough to spend the whole day with family, so I left Platteville at about 7 a.m.
