There’s much ado these days about our crumbling public infrastructure, focused understandably on bridges, highways and even the falling slabs on the façade of the Minnesota Department of Transportation Building in St. Paul.

But neglect of public structures also is hitting home, literally.

The Jordan School Board discussed the board’s meeting with the Jordan Planning Commission during its most recent board meeting.

The number of building permits being taken out is down, compared to the 2006 number.

If the historic St. John the Baptist Catholic School building is endangered, it will be affirmed at 4 p.m. tomorrow.

A pre-development agreement either with or without an escrow was approved by the Jordan City Council at mid-April meeting.

Housing starts in Jordan haven't exactly started out fast for the year.

John Levar, who is planning to move from Belle Plaine and construct a home in Jordan, proposed a circular driveway at the site for his new home.

But on Monday, the city council denied the proposal.

Jordan Valley Townhomes has secured funding through the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency to construct a housing development. City officials have contemplated using tax increment financing to assist with the project.
