Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty line-item vetoed the state bonding bill today, but to the relief of local officials, kept $1 million in for the Scott County Public Safety Training Center.

The training center, which is already partially built with local and state funding and ready to begin operations, wasn't part of the governor's bonding proposal. It was only included in the senate's bonding legislation, but still made it into the final bill agreed to by the House and Senate. The center is located at the historic Mudbaden site in Sand Creek Township.

Here's what the Plainview-Elgin-Milville Bulldogs are saying about the Scott West Panthers:

"Scott West is a big, physical team. They ride the legs hard, and they'll go cross-face hard," PEM coach Mike Matiash told the Rochester Post-Bulletin.

He also mentioned Lee Goldberg, Tyler Kivel, Tony Valek, the lack of having Tim Hentges available, and that he thinks the match could depend on bonus points.

Last night, I filed both my state and federal tax returns. In the three years that I’ve done my own taxes (since I moved out of my parents house and they completed my tax form for me), I have never been done this early. In fact, I remember one year filing the returns electronically at 5 p.m. April 15 – the absolute last moment allowed.
