Just for fun last weekend, my darling wife and I went to see the Jordan Jaguars volleyball team play among the best of the best in the Apple Valley.
First things first: We ate two hot dogs, a Twix, Rollos, popcorn, two walking tacos, and three pops. Whew!
Yesterday, I captured a volleyball play on video that turned out to be rarer than I thought.
I'm heading from Jordan to St. Paul right now to assist Jordan Independent Sports Editor Brian Hall in covering the state volleyball tournament.
If you're still playing volleyball this week, you're already one of the eight best teams.
No photos of Jordan’s first-ever volleyball state championship will be available for purchase on dotphoto.com.
Normally, when a local sports team plays, we have photos posted on the Web site within the following week. But during state tournaments, after which most players and their parents would like to have photos to memorialize the important moments in their lives, the Minnesota State High School League does not allow newspapers to sell photos. They have threatened to keep reporters out of the biggest games of the year if the paper does not follow league policy.
Boy, did the Heimatfest Commission put on a wonderful weekend, or what?
From the Miss Jordan pageant to the keg toss, volleyball, the Run of the Mill, the punt/pass/kick competition, the poker tournament, horseshoes and food and games galore, last Saturday was a great day. Good music and beer, too.
