Just a few of notes about the Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce Miss Jordan Ambassador Program pageant a couple days ago and the program in general:
- Wow, that's a long title for a pageant.
- What is called the personality portion of the pageant is pretty fun. Whatever each Miss Jordan candidate wore was supposed to symbolize part of her personality.
- Emily Hamer wore sunglasses, because she likes the outdoors, she said, and "I'm fun, just like them."
Here's what master of ceremony Wade Olson said about the OK Corral Restaurant & Saloon hosting the Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce Miss Jordan Ambassador Program pageant for the second year in a row:
"The chicken was good."
Here's what Jordan Mayor Ron Jabs said about the Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce Miss Jordan Ambassador Program during the pageant tonight:
"It gives me great pleasure to see that we have 10 young women who want to participate. I am very proud of the royalty that served in the last year."
About the candidates for 2008-2009 Miss Jordan, he added:
"They are all winners. No matter what the outcome is here, I'm proud of every one of you."
Recently the Miss Jordan Royalty has been very busy. I participated in the Jordaness Lion Luncheon and Holiday Fashion Show Benefit at the OK Corral. All proceeds to go to the Minnesota Eye Bank and for local community projects. November 18th Dani Dunbar, Anastasia Lehnen, and myself attended two parades, the first on Thursday, November 30th at Montgomery's 14th Annual Torchlight Parade. We had so much fun even though the night was freezing cold, but we kept warm with blankets and hot coaco. There were about 40 to 50 lighted units in the parade. There was a barrel of monkeys behind us, real reindeer, and even a lighted pirate ship! After the parade there was a fireworks display, they were wonderful! Next, we went to the Le Sueur Holiday Parade on Saturday, December 2nd. It was even colder but we kept warm with blankets hand made and embroidered by Anastasia (2nd Princess). After the parade, we went to the Le Sueur Mall where we drank hot cocoa with Miss LeSueur and listened to the choir sing beautiful Christmas songs, and even got our picture taken with Santa Claus. Then, on Wednesday, December 5th, I attended the 3rd Annual Pekarna Tree Lighting Ceremony. I was honored with the job of flipping the switches to turn on all the lights in Pekarna Park. We than sang Christmas carols, drink hot apple cider, and I even received a candy cane from Santa who took a break from his busy schedule and arrived by Firetruck.
On October 28th, 1st Princess Danielle Dunbar, 2nd Princess Anastasia Lehnen, and myself Miss Jordan/Miss Congeniality attended the Anoka Halloween Parade and Celebration along with 40,000+ revelers. As most people may know, Anoka is known as the Halloween Capital of the World, where thousands of people from all over Minnesota and neighboring states come to participate in the parade, events, and festivities dressed in all wonders of costume. The 150 Halloween floats were truely something to see. We had a fantastic time representing Jordan.
Boy, did the Heimatfest Commission put on a wonderful weekend, or what?
From the Miss Jordan pageant to the keg toss, volleyball, the Run of the Mill, the punt/pass/kick competition, the poker tournament, horseshoes and food and games galore, last Saturday was a great day. Good music and beer, too.
