I've been goofing around on Facebook for a few months, making "friends" (who are really already my friends, or else they're randomly long-lost acquaintances) and such.

It's a time waster, for the most part.

But I was feeling a bit down today (finances can be a struggle), and when I took a break to go to Facebook, I got the pick-me-up I needed.

In case you haven't noticed, your local newspaper isn't merely weekly reading material anymore.

The Jordan Independent's Web site, www.jordannews.com, offers stories, blogs, forums, event listings, and much more. Much of the Web site is updated on a daily basis, including weekends and overnight. Throughout each week, the JI staff is gathering material for the print edition of the newspaper. Reporters don't always start work at 9 a.m. and end the day at 5 p.m., and they avoid the stress of leaving all of their work until the last moment.

Hey all, Brandon Otte and I are at Celebrate Jordan from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today.

We'll be embarking on our maiden voyage as a live online TV station, so check back shortly. You should see the broadcast on the front page of the Web site once we begin.

My fiancée will be heading back to good old Minnesota today after five days spent in Jamaica. I’m excited for a bunch of obvious reasons, but I’m also excited for a reason that may not be quite so obvious – this gives me a chance to really see what Google Earth has to offer.
