Stages Theatre Company in Hopkins is opening its 2007-2008 season on Friday with “Schoolhouse Rock Live!,” and a Shakopee resident Madison Wilts will be among the ensemble taking the stage.
Wilts, a 10-year-old fifth-grader at Red Oak Elementary in Shakopee, is one of 19 cast members who will bring the hit Broadway musical based on the ’70s Saturday morning cartoons to life on stage.
In the show, Tom, a teacher nervous about his first day on the job, tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such beloved songs as “Just A Bill,” “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly” and “Conjunction Junction.”
Performances of “Schoolhouse Rock Live!” are scheduled between Sept. 28 and Oct. 28 at the Hopkins Center for the Arts, 1111 Main St.
Tickets are $11 for children and seniors, and $15 for adults. Discount tickets are available for groups of 12 or more. For more information, contact the box office at 952-979-1111 or visit www.stagestheatre.org. This play is recommended for the whole family.
