SHAKOPEE -- Mike and Kristen Savage were tired, rumpled and exhausted.
More than 50 hours without sleep, the Shakopee couple was sitting in an Orlando airport with dozens of other would-be moms and dads, hearing the laughing voices of their children in the room next door.
The Savages could only wait to hold their 1-year-old infants, playing on the other side of the wall, for the first time.
This was not the homecoming the Shakopee couple expected.

Paul Kramer of Savage returned home this past Sunday after nine days of helping with earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.
Kramer is the Prior Lake Rotary Club’s international chairman. He returned about a week earlier than he’d expected, in part because he heard that military flights out of Haiti may cease soon.
John Creighton, 63, of Prior Lake, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 at Three Links Care Center in Northfield, MN.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 10, from 4-7 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant Street S.E., Prior Lake, and also one hour prior to the service at church.
Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, 3611 North Berens Road N.W., Prior Lake.

Former Prior Lake pastor John Kameron Erbele pleaded guilty last Wednesday (Feb. 3) in Ramsey County District Court on charges of soliciting a prostitute.
The 36-year-old was a pastor at LifePrint Church, which meets at Twin Oaks Middle School, will serve probation in lieu of jail time for the misdemeanor offense under the plea agreement reached.
Al Jelen, 84, of Belle Plaine, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 12, from 4-8 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 104 W. First Street, Jordan, and one hour prior to the Mass at church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Feb.13, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church 210 North Broadway, Jordan.

ST. PAUL -– Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced a proposal to more than double prison time for sex offenders and a new comprehensive internet education program to help protect children from online predators.
Under the Governor's proposal, an offender convicted of first-degree criminal sexual conduct would receive a 25-year sentence, more than doubling the current presumptive sentence.
