The Jordan football team season is over.
The season ended on Tuesday night when they lost their first
playoff game 56-36 to St. Paul Highland Park.
Highland was the No. 2 seed in Class 3A, Section 2 while Jordan
was the No. 7 seed.
Jordan ends the season with a 5-4 record.
Thirty years ago, Scott County Planning Commission met to discuss Ray Joachim's proposal to erect a building for the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District in Sand Creek Township, near Jordan.

S.M. Hentges & Sons of Jordan has proposed a gravel pit along Valley View Drive in Sand Creek Township.
The contractor’s intentions – as well as Town Board Chairman Cy Wolf, Scott County Public Works Director Lezlie Vermillion, County Community Development Director Michael Sobota, and County Highway Engineer Mitch Rasmussen – came before the Jordan City Council last Monday, when a workshop took place, focusing on the impacts such a development might cause for the city.
Larry Severtson, 63, of Prior Lake, passed away from cancer on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009 at Fairview Southdale in Edina.
Celebration of Life Service is Wednesday, Oct. 28, at noon at Oakland Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, Minn. with visitation from 10:30 a.m.–noon. The Rev. Robert Berthold and Alan Stoa will officiate. Interment will be at Oakland Lutheran Cemetery in Albert Lea.
My voicemail reminded me of what I knew was coming – it’d been five years.
Last Tuesday, Oct. 13, was my five-year anniversary as editor of the Jordan Independent. A phone message from Mark Weber, general manager of Southwest Newspapers, made me think of all of the reasons why I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.
