Last Friday, Tanya Velishek filed for election to the Jordan City Council, expanding the race to a field of three candidates for three seats.
Thomas V. Boncher and incumbent Sally Schultz will run against Velishek.
The seats held by Mayor Ron Jabs and fellow city councilmembers Schultz, Mike Shaw, and Barry Ullmann are up for election this November. Ullmann is not running for office. Shaw is expected to run, but he had yet to file as of noon today.
So far, three candidates have filed for the mayoral seat on the council.
Fifty years ago, the local team of Charles Will, David Minar, and George Slinkard won a 4-H dairy cattle competition at the Minnesota State Fair.

Robert Berg, 85, of Mankato and formerly of Jordan, was called safely home on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Sept. 5, at 12 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in North Mankato.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 4, from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service beginning the visitation at Landkamer Johnson Boman Funeral Home. An old-fashioned Irish Wake will be held at Oak Terrace Assisted Living following the visitation. There will also be visitation one hour before service at the church.
Fifty years ago, Jordan public school enrollment totaled 367.

Seventy years ago, Ermie Morrell spent 1-1/2 days last week turning out a bat for for Jordan Brewer Sid Nolden. Morrell made two trips to East Union and drove all over the county to get a piece of wood for the 54-inch bat, which was used during the regional tournament.

Christopher David Kleven, 44, of Prior Lake, passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008 as a result of a fatal auto accident in Gillette, Wyo.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 4, from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the celebration of life service on Friday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m., all at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, 11000 France Avenue South, Bloomington.
